VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
“To the world you may be one person to one person you may be the world”, Josephine Billings

Volunteering

Volunteerism is deep rooted at Parker, beginning with our founder Henrietta Parker, who encouraged and welcomed members of the community to help and care for the infirmed individuals who resided in her home.

Today we are proud to have nearly 200 volunteers providing over 6000 hours of service each year. Volunteers enhance the quality of life of our residents each and every day though the sharing of talents, skills and time.
Helping the residentsThe volunteer department is an essential part of the culture of Parker. The volunteers provide services that enhance the quality of life of our residents though activities ranging from gift shop cashier to discussion group leader. We offer opportunities for people to share their pets, musical talents, spirituality, and other hobbies, interests and gifts.

“Together with our outstanding staff and medical care, volunteers’ kindness, dedication, and spirit an integral part of our Eden Philosophy and mission to provide a home-like environment for our residents,” says Volunteer Coordinator, Catherine Martino.

Volunteer Life

Behind the counter volunteerOur volunteers vary in age and background, from grammar school age children to retired adults wishing to support and honor our elders by sharing themselves with us.

Parker’s volunteer program is unique due to our ability and flexibility to customize the volunteer position to match your talents and availability to meet the needs of our residents and participants.

Some possibilities for volunteering are working directly with residents though recreational activities such as:
  • Board games
  • Creative art projects
  • Computers
  • Gardening projects
  • Music programs
  • Discussion groups and more
Other possibilities would be supporting staff Volunteer Work
