Q: What is an assisted living residence?
A: Assisted living is an apartment-style residence that provides a "home with services" and that emphasizes residents' privacy and choice. Residents typically have private locking rooms and bathrooms. Personal care services are available on a 24-hour-a-day basis for activities of daily living, such as meals, dressing, bathing, and medication supervision.

Q: How can I decide if assisted living would benefit me or a family member?
A: There are several questions you can ask to help make that decision: 1) Are you worried when you or your family member is left at home alone? 2) Have you or your family member had difficulty managing activities of daily living, personal needs, or medications? 3) Are you or your family member becoming forgetful and/or placing yourself or himself/herself in unsafe situations? 4) Do you or your family member seem depressed or despondent? 5) Has a recent hospitalization or illness resulted in the need for supervised care but not nursing home care?

Q: Will there be additional assisted living residence fees for services and amenities?
A: Personal needs are assessed for each resident and provided at additional fees, depending on the level of care that's needed or services that are desired. The basic fee will cover most of the amenities, with the exception of the barber shop, beauty salon, and some wellness programs.

Q: Will I still be able to see my personal physician?
A: Yes. Independent residents are welcome to continue to receive off-campus medical care from their personal physician. Alternatively, Parker at Stonegate retains the services of physicians from a variety of medical specialties, from which a resident may choose a primary care physician.

Q: Will I be able to remain at Parker at Stonegate if I become ill?
A: Parker at Stonegate has a considerable range of clinical resources available. However, if your health care needs exceed the resources available for assisted living, our medical team will arrange for the next level of care and services. In some instances, that may require transfer to one of Parker’s nursing care residences, Parker at River Road or Parker at Landing Lane.

Q: What safety and security systems are in place?
A:
All Parker at Stonegate suites have smoke and fire detectors and alarms. In the highly unlikely case of an emergency, a public address/ communication system will provide advice on what to do. Fire drills are conducted on a regular basis. Surveillance systems are in operation 24 hours a day, and the residence is always staffed. All visitors are required to check in with a concierge. Only the resident will be authorized to give visitors access to his/her apartment.
