Q: Why should I become a Parker volunteer?
A: Becoming a Parker volunteer has many advantages and benefits. Parker provides a welcoming atmosphere with flexible hours, seven days a week, for volunteers of all ages. There are a variety of volunteer positions to choose from, and we welcome new and creative ideas from you. Parker appreciates the time and special commitment of our volunteers by recognizing them at a volunteer dinner each year.
Q: How do I become a Parker volunteer?
A: You can become a Parker volunteer by completing a
volunteer application. Mail your Application for volunteer work to 443 River Road, Highland Park, NJ 08904, or fax it to (732) 565-2402. Parker wants your volunteer experience to be a success, and to ensure that it will be, an interview is required. The interview will help you better understand Parker, and it will help us learn your special skills and talents that may benefit Parker residents. If you decide to join our volunteer family, we will arrange for an orientation and decide on a schedule.
Q: Do you have to be a certain age to volunteer?
A: Parker recognizes the value of intergenerational relationships and welcomes volunteers of all ages. Depending on their individual abilities, Parker's younger volunteers may need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian for an optimal experience for both the volunteer and the residents. Current volunteers range in age from six months old to 90 years young!
Q: Can I volunteer on weekends and/or evenings?
A: Volunteers are crucial to the well-being of Parker residents, who have needs every day and evening of the week and weekends. We also recognize that the lives of our volunteers are very busy and that flexibility in schedules is important. Volunteers are welcome during the day as well as in the evenings until 7:30 PM.
